Portals: Three kind of portals: Fixed, unfixed, and random When someone goes through a portal between two shadow realms they always go through a connecting shadow realm between those two shadow realms. If a connecting shadow realm already exists then the user will go through that. If there isn't a connecting shadow realm that already exists than one will be created. Just because there isn't a portal between two places doesn't mean that a connecting shadow realm does already exists. This is one of the main reasons that people get lost in connecting shadow realms is due to the fact that they are travelling through dead end connectors. If person is travelling using a portal to move to a different spot in the same shadow realm then they usually just travel to the spot they wanted to.
Fixed: A portal that has been stabilized and made almost permanent and has a fixed location (this portal has been already made before the game starts) these portals will only go away if an outside force closes them. Since a fixed portal is a stabilized it is generally hard to notice and hard to close.
Unfixed: a portal that has not been stabilized and will collapse as soon as the caster lets it or when someone else destroys it. This portal will generally appear where the caster wants it too. An unfixed portal is easier to shut even without causing the caster to die or quit channeling the spell.
Random: a naturally occurring portal between two shadow realms that will appear at random and last for a random time
Portals can come from several things: artifacts and spells
A portal that comes from an artifact is a slightly different form of a fixed portal. What makes this different as unlike as with a fixed portal this one isn't open all the time and what it’s connected to can sometimes be changed. You can destroy a portal created from an artifact by destroying the artifact itself. Just because I say the word artifact does not mean that it is always found. Most gods are capable of making an artifact which can open a portal from their shadow realm to the mortal world. It is a difficult and sometimes dangerous as others can change where it leads to.
A spell creates an unfixed portal most of the time. There are very few spells that can create a fixed portal and can only be used master magicians

There is an infinite amount of magics that can possibly exist. Here is where some of the most common and basic magics will be posted and explained. However if there is a type of magic that isn't listed here that you may submit it under Lore Submissions in the Magics thread.
Each shadowrealm may have its own rules for how magic works and they may be similar to each other or entirely different. Magic in Gaianus flows like a stream throughout the entire shadowrealm and through every living being on Gaianus. It is the lifeblood of the shadowrealm and it allows its denizens to use its power. All forms of magic in Gaianus is a derivative of the pure form of Gaianus magic which is called Grenavai since the orx are the only ones known to able to use this form of magic. All other magics in Gaianus form from this as different colors form after a white light has passed through a prism. In this case however the prism is the person using magic. All individuals who use magic on Gaianus unwittingly separate the magic which does recombine into it's natural form after some time. Most wizards and individuals on Gaianus are unaware of the properties of magic and how it works. As a result the collective knowledge on magic is very low and most incredible feats of magic come as relics from a kingdom which long ago learned of magic's properties and was able to master it.

Shadow Realm magic.
Shadow realm magic is the manipulation of shadow realms and god's true names. This magic is the hardest to learn and use to anyone who isn't a god or shadow realm creature. The reason that is comes so easy to them is that they are creatures whose entire existence is affected by this magic.
Banishment - banishment is one of the most basic spells that can be performed with knowledge of part of someone's true name. However the spell is more powerful the more of their name that you know. At its most basic level you invoke part of their true name of forcefully displace them from the shadowrealm they are in and put them in a random shadow realm. At its most advance level you invoke most to the entirety of their full name and displace them but you can choose where you displace them to.
Regeneration - This form of shadowrealm magic is known to all but used by little. This is a type of magic that is practiced by the shadowrealms themselves. A god's physical form means very little to them and can be changed at will. As a result of this and because of their infinite lifespans most gods will put their bodies under too much stress or sustain too many injuries. In these cases the god's physical form will die or in more extreme cases be completely destroyed. Neither of these situations spell the end of a god however. When this happens the god's shadowrealm invokes the god's true name. When it does that it calls the god's soul to return to it and it then casts a spell with the power of the god's true name that causes their body to reform.
True names - A god's true name is their most guarded secret. It is a reflection of themselves on the deepest level. By knowing just a syllable of a god's you name you gain power over them. With just the smallest part of a god's true name you can invoke it and cause them intense pain or cast a banishment spell on them. If a god knows another god's full true name on him he has complete control over that god. He can bind him to his will or he can kill him by invoking it and cause the god's regeneration to be slowed. For this reason all god's go through extreme efforts in order to keep their name a secret and most go by a pseudoname that they gave themselves. The same applies for any creature that has a soul and while most of them are unaware that they even have a true name that doesn't keep them safe if someone were to invoke it. There are rumors that a god can change his true name however no one so far has found out how to do so.
Binding - This is a form of shadowrealm magic that is very commonly practiced. This can be casted just by knowing a single letter in a true name and having the target be in your vicinity. At it's most basic levels you can keep the target from leaving the area you bound them to. At higher levels you can attempt to control the entity you've captured. These are both dangerous practices though for binding works two ways and the longer you bind them the deeper they can penetrate your thoughts and soul and learn things about you. It is also dangerous in that the binding only works as long as you are invoking their true name and if you stop or aren't powerful enough to control them they can break the binds and wreak their vengeance.
Naming - This is a shadow realm magic that can only be practiced by gods. It is also a form of magic that all gods, regardless of how magically adept they are, can practice. Naming is the art of giving a true name to something. A true name can be given to anything as long as certain conditions are met. A recipient of a true name must either: pledge their life in servant of their master, have their will be conquered by their namer, or request a name. If anything already has a true name when you name them their true name doesn't get replaced or changed. This means that you can have a creature with many true names. The downside to this is that all of them still hold power over them. You give them a second true name. The exception to some of these rules are gods as gods can only have a single true name and can only have their name changed if they agree to it. Part of naming is being able to revoke someone's name. This is just as easy as saying I revoke your name. To many shadow realm creatures taking away their name is akin to excommunication. When a god creates a shadow realm race he also names it so that they will always fight for him. This means that other gods can name a race of shadow realm creatures native to lands other than their own. The requirements are the same as for a singular creature but you must do it on the race as a whole.
This is not all the forms of shadowrealm magic and there are still many more to be discovered. However these are the most common forms of shadowrealm magic.

Elemental Magic:
Elemental Magic is perhaps the most common form of magic in existence. Elemental Magic is simply manipulating the elements to do your bidding. There are many elements at a wizard's disposal.
Light: This element is most commonly associated with good and benign people but a user of this magic can be incredibly evil and malign. Light magic has many uses for the individual wishing to use it only a small portion of light magic uses are listed below. Restore: This is the aspect of light magic that is used in most healing magic. As its name suggests it is used to restore individuals and put them back into fighting condition. Ward: This aspect of light is used in defense and repulsion. Ward magic repels other forms of magic away from it. That has led to its use as a defensive magic. It can also be used to set up barriers to keep things out. Cleanse: This is the offensive aspect of light magic. The magic that flows through most things in all magic is an impure or diluted form of magic. This aspect of magic allows on to purify magic into a closer to pure form. It's nearly impossible to get magic to be pure arcane energy. When you use Cleansing magic on a person you purify the magical energy inside of them and ignite them; this is different from fire magic in that their very soul is on fire and will continue to burn until the are a hollow shell of a person. No mortal means will put out this fire and it will rage on until it has burnt your soul to nothing or it has purified it. This form of Light magic is very hard to master for you must be able to keep your own soul from igniting while practicing this or suffer the same fate.
Dark: This element is most commonly associated with evil and malign people but a user of this magic can be good and benign. Dark Magic has many uses; some of which are written below. Consume: This is the aspect of dark magic that is used most
